Friends...and such things
So, today's summary and topic I believe could appropriately be titled "friends." Yeah, friends. I like em', ya know? They are a delight to have around. Didn't do too much early in the day. I did the usual bum in the morning, woke up to the fans on the carpet, and headed to work. The power at USU went out for a little while...that was exciting!
So...after work, I joined up with some buddies for a party in honor of my friend Nathan Harris. Let me tell you a little about Nate. He has been a friend of mine for a very, very long time. Nate has always been a friend that I have trusted. He is a go-to man who gets things done. He joined the National Guard so "people can pray for [him] even after [he] is a missionary"...smart man, smart man. He recently got lasik (spelling?). Sounds pretty danged crazy. Nate is and has always been quite the ladies man, and has a way with the women that I just cannot fathom. He is a strong friend, and will be largely missed by us-his homies-while he is away serving our Country in Iraq. We grilled bratwurst a la grill, and spent some nostalgic time with the ol' RYNO crew, consisting of SubGum (Brandon Storer), Pojax (Kyle Kelley), Selroc(Ben Phillips), Shifty (Nate), and Grunt (your's truly :), with adopted members bennynjetts (Ben Johnson), and Eric McGahhey (Partario/the Mexican). Also making guest appearances were Momma Kelley (who's house we were at) and Kyle's wife and baby Sam. ****Special insert: If I were judged on grammar, this blog would be horrific****
Through the course of the evening, we had a nice long chat about old memories and reminisced a lot and shared a lot of laughs. Lil' Sam was all after daddy the whole time, but I'm thinking my alien cast scared her. We played some ol' Heroes III, and various other games via PC and Wii. Overall, it was a great time and I'm going to miss Brandon as he goes South again...and secretly I'm hoping his financial aid opps are better at USU :P That way he'll come back up eventually.
After departing from there, I headed over to assist Tyler Dietrich at the Fun Park for a night of Country Dancing, but he wasn't feeling well, so I advised he stay home. Instead, I taught Andrew Lillywhite some killer moves so he can win over all the ladies. I pray that none of my doctors see this blog and subsequently get angry at me for "using my arm too much".... ;)
I enjoyed seeing and chatting with a variety of acquaintances, and am amazed at how many people are sympathetic toward broken people. This really teaches me a lesson in Charity. I need to be more supportive of my friends in their struggles and trials, and be someone the Lord can count on to bless the lives of those around me.
Oh, and I received some great communications from some highly respected friends of mine...one that came quite surprisingly! My point in this is that if you ever feel like checking up on a friend, do it! You never know when you could make someone's day :)
